If you search Reddit for tattoo removal, you’ll see:
“It hurts worse than getting the tattoo.”
Pain is subjective.
But here’s what most Edmonton clients actually experience.
Most describe the pain as a hot elastic snap, quick pulses which feels intense but only for a short time.
The good news is that sessions are fast, small tattoos only take a few minutes.
Getting tattooed is a longer process, drawing all of the detail onto your skin, saturating the skin with colour and multiple passes, this makes the pain seem to last longer. It is continuous needle trauma.
Laser tattoo removal is much quicker, with short bursts of energy covering a larger surface, and not needing to fine tune the detail. Although intense, the pain duration is shorter.
At Bush Whacked Laser in Edmonton to ease the pain and make our clients as comfortable as possible we ice the area, use controlled settings, and have numbing options available.
Discomfort should be tolerable… not traumatic.
More pain does not automatically mean better results.
Energy settings must be safe and effective, not extreme.
Aggressive treatment will increase the risk of hyperpigmentation, blisters, burns and more. Settings should be evaluated at each session, and treatment should reflect, the season, clients toleration and previous results.
Tattoo removal isn’t painless.
But the pain is manageable.
And most clients say the short discomfort is worth the long-term result.
